Subsea 7 is inviting experienced engineers from all sectors to forge a new career in the subsea oil and gas industry.

The company has opened the latest edition of its engineering conversion program, which it says has enabled experienced engineers “from aerospace to automotive and onshore construction to ex-military” to transfer their skills into oil and gas.

The program, which begins later in 2019, is described as “intensive” by Subsea 7. It is said to deliver a mix of on the job and classroom-based training, as well as external activities such as visits to Subsea 7 sites, vessels and subcontractors.

More than 70 engineers have gone through the program to date, according to the company, which says the program has proved to be a “very effective” method of bringing “new and diverse” engineering expertise to Subsea 7.

Qualified engineers are invited to apply for the current intake through the Subsea 7 website by September 20. Candidates will be based in Westhill, Aberdeen, at Subsea 7’s office.

“We’re looking for candidates who can bring fresh insight, ingenuity and innovation to our operations,” Tom McNamee, Subsea 7 business unit engineering resource and development manager, said in a company statement.

“What this program offers is a very supportive, professional and effective way to quickly fill any knowledge gaps, to ensure each candidate’s transition is as straightforward as possible. The support and encouragement the program provides, continues throughout their career,” he added.
