The Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers, under leadership of Dr Ejilah Robinson has concluded plan for the Codes and Standards for Iron and Steel industry in Nigeria.
The Institution is hereby inviting stakeholders in the industry to the working workshop organised as part of the process toward the final adoption. Stakeholders in the Iron and Steel industry, academic community, professionals and researchers are encouraged to participate and contribute.
Codes and standards is one of the core functional responsibilities of the divisions. Together with Nigerian Society of Engineers, Standard Organisation of Nigeria and Council for the Regulations of Engineering in Nigeria, NIMechE is developing selected standards.
Over the years the NIMechE has followed this mandate as part of its professional obligations. It has a standing National Committee which is headed by Engr Seun Faluyi and drew it members across the country.
In 2015, under the leadership of Engr Prof Ademola Adisa Bello, the Institution organised its first workshop which considered, and later a follow up working workshop to look at Standards in oil and gas sector. The events hosted the representatives of major oil and gas companies and resulted in creation of subcommittees in the target sectors for further studies.
