Tributes pour as Engineering Titan,  Olu Awoyinfa goes homeThe Nigerian society of Engineers Ikeja branch had announced the passage of the Branch’s founder and a national engineering leader, Engr Olu Awoyinfa.
Announcing the news was the branch chairman, Engr Akin Akintola on Tuesday.
He said “This is no doubt, a very huge loss, not only to NSE Ikeja family but to the entire Engineering community within and outside Nigeria but we take solace in the imperishable fact that Baba lived well and made long-lasting impacts”.

He also said that the “details of activities to celebrate this revered Engineer of high repute would be communicated in due course.”
Below are some of the early tributes monitored by MyEngineers:
“This is to express my deep shock on the news of the death of our Baba of Engineering in Lagos State. His engineering bias cut across all engineering known disciplines although he was a Chemical Engineer. His branch influence cuts across the entire 5 branches in Lagos State as he was a principal architect of their formations.
My family and I will surely miss his fatherly and Peaceful influence. May his gentle Soul rest in Perfect Peace. Amen.”
—Engr Tunde Zedomi First President NIMechE
“Though aged but we loved him so much. A passionate Engr and the initiator of Ikeja branch, whom we joined the branch to celebrate his 75th year birthday few weeks ago in Lagos. A great legend and icon, Engr. Pa Olu Awoyinfa FNSE is gone. What a great loss to the engineering family.
I use this medium to commiserate with the NSE President, Chair Ikeja Branch and all the Stakeholders on his demise. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
-Engr Adeniran Ibitoye (Kilomodemo), National Executive Member, NSE, Former Chairman NSE Osogbo Branch
“Once I met a man of a different stock who thought me about Engineers and Engineering in less than 30 mins of discussion, he disabused my mind like true elders should, he made a mark in my mind.  Since meeting him, I have looked forward to the Ikeja branch lecture, where am sure to meet him, now my very respected friend has answered the call. For his goodness we will all miss him, I pray that those of us who claim eldership will learn from him and be truly elders so good legacy will stand for us.
Sir you touched so many lives positively, we will all miss you. REST IN PERFECT PEACE…”
-Engr Ugochukwu Nzurumike, National Chairman, NIMechE
“It is an irreparable loss. How do we describe him, Baba encompasses everything in Engineering and we cannot describe him enough.
“Thank God, we celebrate you in your life and we will continue to appreciate you, because your marks are indelible.
Adieu Baba, Rest In Peace”
—-Engr Abass Muhammad Ishola, NSE Abeokuta Branch
“I first met Baba Awoyinfa on my first ever attendance at the meeting. But I really didn’t put much into him because he was so simple and freely related to all. He was not sitting on high table so I spoke to him like every elder and in few minutes, I know that he is not just an engineer. And then subsequent meetings and our first long talk.. I was hooked. He opened his door wide and always willing to sacrifice time. Even as a young engineer, then,  I found this impressive. I learned so much from his personality. . Now Baba is gone; Leaving us with so much to ponder in good memories. We will miss him..”
-Isqil NajIm (First Graduate Student forum coordinator NSE Ikeja branch)
“May his soul rest in peace and may God grant the family  and the NSE family at large the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss..”
–Engr Funmi Akingbagbohun, Chairperson NIMechE Lagos
“Adieu,my amiable Noble Patrician. Great was your discipline, ageless styles and candour. May God keep your kind and gentle soul with Him perpetually.”
…  Dr Chris Chukwurah  Past Chairman NSE Ekpoma Branch
“May God Almighty comfort the entire Awoyinfa family, NSE Ikeja branch and the entire Engineering family in Nigeria. Baba made a good history. Let’s search our minds what people we say after us concerning our actions today”
..  Engr. Ganiyu Tiyamiyu, Exco member, NIMechE Lagos
“The news of the death of Engr. Olu Awoyinfa, FNSE, FNAE, is shocking.  I hereby tender my heartfelt condolences to his family, the Ikeja Branch of the NSE, and the engineering family at-large. May God grant all of us to bear the loss (Amen). ..

About Engr Awonyinfa.. please read here..
A founding father of NSE Ikeja,  former national leader and a council member of NSE.  A former General secretary FAEO and and former council member WFEO
Like a colossus, he set many paces as well as made many firsts everywhere he found himself. From his professional working life to its leadership and business life.
A mentor to mentors. He had hand in formation of NSE Asaba, Abuja, Sokoto, Katsina,  Gboko, Ilesa, Markurdi  Branch. Such was his influence that he was well respected across board because of the energy and inspiration he brought to bear on all.
The engineering  community  has lost an achiever,  a calming influence, and a relentless innovator. We take solace in the knowledge that he also left behind thousands of engineers he mentored directly or indirectly and left a strong and indelible legacy for generations to come.
Baba has gone to rest. He was an engineers’ engineer. .Even and he has given us memorable and pleasant memories, so shall his legacies unwaveringly, indelibly stamped in the sand of time.
