NSE Ikeja Branch swear in Engr Akintola in style as Engr Femi Okunade Counsels Engineers

The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ikeja branch has successfully conducted the investiture of its new Chairman, Engr Akin Akintola in style. The event which was attended by engineers and dignitaries across the country was a huge success. The Outgoing Chairman, Engr Adeolu Ogundare chaired the event while M.D Xerox HS Nigeria, Engr Femi Okunade was the Special Guest of Honour at the event. Also in attendance were Engr Olorunfemi Isaac, the Immediate Past President of Nigerian Society of Engineers, and a Special Adviser to Ondo State Governor on Agriculture, Engr Titi Omo Ettu,  Fmr President, Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria, ATCON, and fmr Vice President of COREN and NSE, Engr Babagana Muhammed, Engr Margaret Oguntala both Vice president Nigerian Society of Engineers, and a host of others from across the country
Engr Femi Okunade, Managing Director of Xerox HS Limited during his presentation urged the newly constituted executives officers of the Branch to do more in thinking towards innovative ideas that would move the profession forward.

Further, Engr Okunade said the new officers must demonstrate the brilliant capacity and capability of Nigeria Engineers who are noted for professionalism and high-quality assurance in job delivery.

He stated that the way to outshine their contemporaries was to explore the tremendous unharnessed opportunities of its members, been innovative in taking care of any crisis and demonstrate leadership direction, which is top-down and never down top.

He commended the out-gone executive led by Adeolu Ogundare for the spirit of professionalism and togetherness instilled into the branch adding that the new executive must not depart from the path of progressive ideas initiated and executed for the uplift of the institution and Nigeria infrastructural landscape.

On his part, the Outgoing Chairman, Engr Adeolu Ogundare thanked the Branch, elders and companies and the members for the opportunity to serve the profession and outlined some of his achievements which include: the completion of the Branch Secretariat, Ralph Alabi Engineering Centre, Institution of Scholarship Scheme, and host of others.

Engr Adeolu reminded the gathering of the spirit of Ikeja branch and maintain his belief in the capability and and capacity of the Brnach to keep growing.

He advised the new executive using the words of Mahatma Gandhi “the best way to find yourself  is to lose yourself in the services of others..” In his words, “I have been to the alter of service and I found out that services is joy, and services is the best work of life. I truly found joy in service”

In his Inaugural Speech, Engr Akintola thanked the gathering and the members of the engineering family who has contributed immensely to his elevation as the Chairman of the Branch having served in various capacities over the years.

He paid homage to the former chairmen who has led the Branch in its 23 years of existence. from Engr Dr. Ralph Alabi, Engr Chike Morah, Engr Anthony Akinsanya, Engr Francis Oguamnaman, Engr Ayo Fanimoku, Engr Kunle Adebajo, Engr Abiodun Awe, Engr Tunde Olatunji, Engr Margaret Oguntala, Engr Bola Akinrinbido, to Engr Adeolu Ogundare the outgoing chairman.

He outlined his plans among which is to work to make the Ralph Alabi engineering centre the hub of engineering excellence as well as building on existing projects and programmes. The icing on the cake is the plan for the cooperative society formation for the members at the branch.

Distinguished engineers and personalities  were given honoured for their services. They are Engr Femi Okunade, MD Xerox HS Nigeria Limited, Engr Isaac Olorunfemi, the Immediate past President of Nigerian Society of Engineers and the first person from the Branch to become NSE President, Engr Mrs Christiana Adelowo, Founder and executive officer of Fachrad Nigeria Limited, Engr Mrs Mayen Adetiba, a distinguished Engineering leader and one of the foremost women in engineering, Engr Setonji David, a former Executive officer of NSE Ikeja who is currently serving as lawmaker   at Lagos State House of Assembly, Engr Wasiu Adedeji, Dean Engineering Yaba College of technology, Mr Olubunmi Ajayi Sijuade, an award winner national officer at NSE headquater, Abuja, Engr Freebon Okhiria, MD Nigerian Railway Corporation, Engr Maureenobi Okeke, Mr Ahmed Mustapha, Engr Saliu Adeyemi, Prof A. A.A. Atayero, Vice Chancellor  of Covenant University Otta
