NSE Mourns its First President, Engr. Chief. Geoffrey Osatohanmwen Aiwerioba FNSE

The death has been announced of Engr. Chief. Geoffrey Osatohanmwen Aiwerioba, FNSE, OON, the founding President, Nigerian Society of Engineers who passed on to the great beyond on Wednesday, 2nd July, 2014 at the age of 95.
He qualified as a Civil Engineer having graduated from the University of London. Engr. Aiwerioba worked for a Consulting Civil Engineering firm in United Kingdom and became the first Nigerian Engineer to be a corporate member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, UK. He helped in founding the Nigerian Society of Engineers in 1958 with others, and served as its foundation President.
At home, he rose through the Civil Service cadres to become the first Engineer Permanent Secretary/Controller of Civil Engineering in the then Mid-West Ministry of Works and Transport.

He held the National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) as well as the traditional title of Uwaungue of Benin, which made him the only Chief that can deputize the Oba of Benin in his absence.
The burial arrangements will be announced by the Family and the Oba of Benin palace.
