PROFILE OF ENGR. AZUKA BARTHOLOMEW YOUNG EMEASOBA, FNSE, KSC

Azuka Emeasoba (aka ABEY) was born in Yola, Adamawa State some decades ago and hails from Ozubulu in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra State. He is an Electrical engineer by education and a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) engineer by training. He has worked in various areas of the economy such as oil and gas, manufacturing and academics for over thirty-four (34) years with experience in manufacturing dynamics, Health, Safety & Environment management, managing people and lecturing.

He obtained his West African Certificate (WAEC) in 1979 and had both a polytechnic and University education in Electrical/Electronic Engineering leading to the award of a Higher diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in 1985, Post Graduate diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in 1988 and Master of Engineering (M.Eng) degree In Power System Engineering from the then Anambra State University (ASUT), Enugu in 1990; British Safety Council (BSC), London International Diploma in Safety Management (IDipSM) in 1998 and Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) in Management from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) in 2002.

Engr. Emeasoba did the mandatory one-year National Youth Service (NYSC) programme with Honeywell Group, Ibadan in Oyo State in the 1985/86 service year. In 1986, he joined Kandu Engineering Associates, Enugu as a Project Engineer till 1990 when he joined United Geophysical (Nig.) Ltd. (an oil servicing/seismic data acquisition company), Lagos as a Seismic Observer working at Maiduguri, Warri, Brass, Brutu, Yenogoa, Nembe and Portharcourt field offices. He thereafter joined Emenite Limited, Enugu in 1995 and worked as a Snr. Environment, Health & Safety Manager (EHS Manager) for eighteen (18) years till 2013 when he retired and went into private safety consultancy services as a Principal Partner in Chazemsons Ventures Limited with its head office at Enugu. This he combines with lecturing Engineering courses at Caritas University, Enugu and ESUT Business School, Enugu

He has attended many management courses on Managing People For Strategic Advantage, Accounting For Non-Accountants, Managing People for Excellence all at Lagos Business School (LBS), Lagos; Strategic Business Planning and Challenges of Management, repositioning the Managers for the next millennium, change Management, Coaching for Improved Performance, Team Building and Conflict Management courses; several SON-organized Management System Workshops and courses since 1998.

Engr. Emeasoba belongs to a retinue of professional bodies that include Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals/ISPON (NISP), Institution of Electrical & Electronics Engineers [IEEE], USA, International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM), London and Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM). He is also a Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON)–registered National System Quality Lead Auditor.

He has been a facilitator on a few paper presentations at important seminars and workshops: “Qualities of a highly performing organisation” at NNPC retreat in Enugu (2005), “Fire Safety” at the Annual conference of the special marshals of the FRSC, Enugu & Ebonyi sector commands at Enugu (2005), “Essentials of Highly Healthy People” to the quarterly magazine of Emenite Limited Enugu (2005), “Health, Safety & Environment in Our Homes” at the Nigerian Society of Engineer’s (NSE), Enugu Branch-organised workshop on Safety & Environmental Consciousness (2000), “Asbestos & Health” at the monthly meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) Owerri Branch. (1998); “Sustainable safety culture in Engineering practice”; Basic Engineering Economics” , Applied cost Engineering & Engineering Economy” and “Introduction to cost Engineering” at monthly meetings of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Enugu Branch and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Mandatory Continuing Professional Education (MCPE) and Continuing Professional Education for Professional Engineers (CoPEEE)

Engr. Emeasoba has published few technical papers and has to his credit the authorship of an in-house Safety book titled “General Information, Rules & Regulations on Health, Safety & Environment in Emenite Limited, Enugu” (2003).

Engr. Azuka Emeasoba is a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NISafetyE),), a past Chairman of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Enugu Branch and a former member of the Engineering Regulation & Monitoring (ERM) of the COREN, Enugu Zone. He is also a Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) Special Marshal serving the nation voluntarily.

In the religious circle, he is a knight of the Order of St. Christopher (KSC) of the Anglican Communion.

His hobbies include playing, watching and analyzing football games on radios, playing scrabble, table tennis games, swimming and reading Christian/spiritual books.

Engr. Azuka is happily married to Dr. Mrs. Nneka Charity and is comfortably blessed with two grown up children.
