The Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ikeja Branch has all but concluded plan for the 2019 Ralph Alabi Memorial Engineering Lecture holding on November 11 2019 at Ralph Alabi Engineering Centre, Plot 32 Oba Ogunji Road beside Forte Oil Filling Station, Pen Cinema Agege, Lagos.
The event is held in honour of Branch’s pioneer Chairman, late Chief Ralph Adeola Alabi, the first indigenous Managing Director and Chairman of Guinness Nigeria Limited.
The Theme of this year Edition is “Management of Relationship: late Ralph Alabi and Others” will be examined by Engr Chief Akintunde Zedeomi, the first President of NIMechE and first Chairman of NSE Apapa Branch and a former Vice president of Nigerian Society of Engineers.
Others expected at the event are, the NSE President Engr Kunle Mokuolu, who is the chairman of the occasion, Grp Capt. John Obakpolor, Alhaji Tunde Balogun, Chairman APC, Lagos and host of others,
The event will also be witness induction of new members of the Society. Guest are expected to be seated by 2pm
About Speaker, Engr. (Chief) Akintunde Sean Zedomi, FNSE, FNIM, F.IOD, F.CostE, FNIMechE, F.AutoEI., F.NIPE, MIPLantE
Engr. Akintunde Zedomi is a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers, a former NEPA Engineer, a former Plant Manager with Harbour works, a retired General Manager Engineering, Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc., Apapa Lagos. He has consulted for many organizations on Engineering & Management. He has served on governing boards both Federal and State governments e.g Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu & National Automotive Council (NAC) Abuja.
Engr. Chief Zedomi is an Inaugural Chairman, NSE Apapa Branch. He is a former Chairman, Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) & its Council member for many years. He is the pioneer National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE). And has the distinction of being the only President of NIMechE. He also served the Nigerian Society of Engineers in many capacities and as a Vice President, Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) & its Council Member for many years.
Double Chief as he is fondly called is the Chief Bobajaye of Idimuland in Lagos State and also the High Chief Saloro of Omuo-Ekiti Kingdom In Ekiti State. He is the Managing Director & CEO at DAID Engineering Limited.
Engr Raphael Alabi
Engr Raphael Adeola Alabi OON (1941–2009) was a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers and industrialist who became the first indigenous engineer in post colonial Nigeria to become a ‘Chief Engineer’ at Guinness, Nigeria and also the first Nigeria Chairman and MD of the same company having joined the company as Technical Trainee in 1964 and rose through the ranks as Chief Engineer, Executive Director, marketing Director, Managing Director/Chief Executive to become the Chairman of Guinness Nigeria Plc. He was also very active in other professional circles, and later founded his own engineering consultancy company
Apart from Guiness, he was also the chairman of a frontline marketing communications firm known as Taijo Wonukabe Limited; he founded Maystar Brothers Ltd.
Ralph Alabi was a member of several business and professional organisations including the Nigerian Society of ENgineers. In 1990, he was given the chieftaincy title of Aruwajoye of Akure and honoured with a National merit award- Officer of Order of the Niger (OON)- in 2003 by Obansonjo government. He alsi held several other leadership positions in both academic and no academic insitutions.
He was married to Rachael Alabi (née Oluwafemi) and left behind many children and grandchildren and a legion of individuals from all walks of life who sought his counsel on various facets of life: spiritual, entrepreneurship, management, alumni relations, discipline and family.
