All Set for ex NSE President Chief Olumuyiwa Ajibola’s Investiture as the APBN President in Abuja

The Association of Professional Body in Nigeria, APBN has concluded plan for the investiture ceremony of Engr. Chief Olumuyiwa Alade Ajibola, FNSE the Agbaakin of Ile Ife as the 16th President on Thursday November 15, 2018.

Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Oshibajo, SAN, is expected at the event billed to hold at the Sheraton Hotel and Resorts, Abuja starting from 6.00 PM. Ambassador Bunu Sheriff Musa would chair the event while guest speaker is Prof. Oyewusi Ididapo-Obe. The Theme of the Event is “Maximizing the Roles of Nigerian Professionals for Nation Building”

Chief Ajibola will be taking over from Hon. Dr. Omede Idris, FNMA a Medical Doctor with an accomplished and celebrated career in the medical field spanning nearly three decades. He was also a former President of Nigerian Medical Association (2010-2012) and has served the APBN meritoriously.

About Engr Olumuyiwa Alade Ajibola, FNSE, FAEng

Engr. Ajibola is a Civil Engineer trained at University of London – West Ham College of Technology, Stratford E15, now University of East London in 1970 and also obtained his M.Sc Degree in Highway & Traffic Engineering/Construction Management from the University of Birmingham, Edgbaston in 1978/79. He has since gone on to attend many other professional development courses including Harvard Business School.

Chief Ajibola, an astute professional and a firm believer in Nigeria Local Content and entrepreneurship has recorded stellar professional career ever since starting as a pupilage at the Urban District Council of Basildon New Town, Essex, England in 1970/73 to co-founded INTECON PARTNERSHIP in late 1974, (later INTECON PARTNERSHIP LTD) which has now become a leading Consulting Engineering firm in Nigeria. He also led the formation of Interworks Engineering Ltd., (Construction) and Automated Geotechnics Ltd., (Geotechnical Investigation and Foundation Engineering), both subsidiaries of INTECON PARTNERSHIP LTD, now ISO 9001:2008 certified.

He has participated in spectacular projects both in the UK and across Nigeria including, Nevedon Road 63 Dwellings, Basildon, UK; TBS Civil Works, Lagos (1975); Air force Hangar at MM International Airport (1977); QIT-Ibeno Road through creeks & swamps; Eket, Bonny & Escravos Airstrip Runways for Exxon Mobil and Chevron respectively; several Highways nationwide including Flooded Section, Lokoja-Abuja Road to mention but few.

The Agbaakin of Ife has served the Engineering Profession in various capacities in the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), ACEN and COREN over the past 3 decades and ultimately as the President of NSE, the Engineering Umbrella body, in years 2010 & 2011. He has authored several Engineering Technical Papers, presented at different National and International fora.

Engr. Ajibola has also been involved in Advisory and Policy Formulating Think Tanks both nationally and internationally. He was a Co-Chair of Infrastructure Policy Commission of Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG) and a member of the Federal Government constituted National Refineries Special Task Force (NRSTF) in 2012. He is Vice Chairman Africa, of WFEO Standing Committee on Engineering and Environment (CEE) and also the Advisor to WFEO President in Africa.

In addition to several professional Honours and Awards, he has been honoured with the traditional title of The Agbaakin of Ile-Ife. He is married with children, four of whom are Engineers. He is a Rotarian, loves Reading, Travelling and the game of Golf.

About APBN

APBN is an Association of Professions, Institutions, Societies and Associations whose regulatory councils or bodies are registered by an Act of Parliament. It was created as a result of the need for Professional Bodies in Nigeria to speak in one voice and amalgamate unified position on common issues affecting the Professionals and professional practices in Nigeria, the body has now 30 members. APBN was given official Federal Government recognition as the third leg of the tripod of the Organised Private Sector (OPS) in January, 1992. however, the activities of APBN started far back in 1983.
