Ikeja Engineers Honoured Engr Olaolu Ogunduyile, Dr. Balogun others with distinguished Engineers Award

The MD, Kenol Nigeria limited, Engr Olaolu Amos Ogunduyile have been honoured by the Nigerian Society of Engineers Ikeja Branch for his immense contributions and services to engineering. The Branch also honoured an icon of Facility management and Engineering, Dr. MKO Balogun, one of Nigeria’s foremost facility development expert, Engr Prof. Jeremiah Ojediran , Vice Chancellor The Bells University of  Technology, Otta, Engr Gbolahan Toriola, Director Vehicle inspection Services, Engr Muhammad Abbas Ishola, Outgoing Chairman NSE Abeokuta. This was at the 2018 edition of the Branch’s Annual Dinner and Award organised by the Branch at the end of the week-long Annual Engineering Week in Lagos. The award which is traditionally conferred on individuals and corporate organisations that has played crucial roles in supporting engineering development during outgoing engineering calendar year held at the Ralph Alabi Engineering Centre, Agege.

Others who were recipients of various categories of award at the event are: Engr Mrs Oduwa Agboneni, whose contributions to engineers’ enterprise development was recognised, also on the list are Engr Bamidele Idris, President GetJobs, Engr Olaolu Adedapo-Aisheda, Chairperson APWEN Lagos, Engr Bashiru Adewale, Engr Adeniyi Ogunsanya, Isqil Najim Business Development and Analyst, Offshore Dimensions,  Oluwafemi Adeoye whose outstanding innovation toward the development of young engineers was recognised and commended and others. The Branch also granted award to three best three Secondary schools that emerged from its Project Skill Competition conducted earlier in the week.

The Branch Chairman, Engr. Akin Akintola thanked all the beneficiaries for their services to engineering while also recognizing the outgoing Executive Committee Members and management of the Branch for their services. He urged more supports for the incoming leadership before presenting them to the gathering.

Meanwhile, Engr Olaolu Amos Ogunduyile, MD and CEO kenol Nigerian Limited has tasked the Branch and NSE to introduce more innovative professional trainings for younger engineers to tap from the skills and knowledge of more experienced engineers. He said this during his short speech at the Annual Dinner and Award.

Speaking as the Events Special Guest of Honour, Engr Olaolu Amos Ogunduyile recalled that after the first God’s miracle of transforming darkness to light, significant breakthroughs have been recorded by man as he explores his environment and develop.

Further, Engr Ogunduyile whose company, Kenol, Nigeria Limited has won various award for innovative and quality works both in Nigeria and Abroad, said that Nigeria cannot develop without its engineers and that all the nations we look up to have all adopted proactive approaches toward their national development. He pointed out that there is need to encourage Nigerian engineers, especially younger ones to be more productive and contribute into national development. Most of the things we imported, according to him, are produced by some people, as he stressed that we must encourage local manufacturing. For without our own productive economy, we will continue to import while our economy and currency valuation are subject to international trade fluctuation.

He praised the efforts of Ikeja Branch in the young engineers development as well as the Catch them young approach of encouraging Secondary schools to be innovative and compete among themselves. He warned that the Branch still have more to do as he urged the leadership to tap from the knowledge and skills of the experienced members as it build for the future.

Every year, the outgoing leader of NSE Ikeja Branch use the occasion to reward outstanding engineers, individuals and companies who contributed to Engineering within the outgoing engineering calendar year.
