NIMechE FELICITATE WITH NIGERIAN MUSLIM UMMAH ON EID’L KABIR CELEBRATION
On behalf of the entire Council and Members of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers I wish to felicitate with the entire Nigerian Muslim Community on this special day of Eid’l Kabir celebration. While, we all mark this exciting day with you, we also join other men and women of goodwill to continually pray for the peace and prosperity of our dear country Nigeria.
I want to quickly remind us that to achieve the commanding economic success we so desire as a nation, we should also endeavor to ruminate over the ageless admonition of Richard Lamm who once said and I quote that “All we know about the new economic world tells us that nations which train engineers will prevail over those which train lawyers. No nation has ever sued its way to greatness!” Furthermore, Barack Obama in his years of the US presidency once remarked that ‘the most valuable skill you can sell is your knowledge, and education is the currency of the Information age, and countries who out-educate us today will out-compete us tomorrow’ !
Hence, at this season we must also take time to reflect on these pensive admonitions as we find ourselves on the brink of the fourth industrial revolution, – a revolution driven by knowledge and the power of information technology. We must encourage ourselves to build a vibrant and robust economy for all Nigerians through hard work and a greater investment in education – with a special emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), to build an enduring capacity that will drive a productive industrial economy to create more jobs and wealth for the nation.
While, we felicitate with our members and entire Muslim community on the celebration of Eid’l Kabir we pray Allah to accept all our ibadah and make us live long in affluence, NIMechE would like to seize this opportunity to invite you to be part of its professional discourse on ‘The Revitalization of the Nigerian Industrial Sector for Rural Infrastructural Development: The Role of Mechanical Engineers’ at the upcoming 2018 International Conference slated for 23rd -26th October in the ancient and Industrial city of Kano.
As KANON DABO 2018 beckons, let us unite together and build a very strong nation that our children will be proud of.
NIMechE is wishing you a joyous and eventful EID MUBARAK.
