Senator Omisore tasks engineers to proffer solutions to Nigeria’s epileptic power supply

A former deputy governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has charged engineers in the country to rise up to the recurrent challenge of epileptic electric power supply in the country.

He also asked chattered engineers to be professional in the discharge of their duties in order to ensure that the profession receives the respect and dignity it deserves.

Omisore made this call at the Fellowship Conferment Ceremony of the Nigerian Society of Engineers held in Abuja on Friday June 30, where he was a special guest of honour.

Delivering his address at the ceremony that attracted top engineers and captains of industry, Omisore urged the new fellows to see the conferment as a further call to service.

Omisore said fellows who are members of advisory boards at all levels of government to ensure that the country’s assets are not sold to traders or ‘portmanteau’ engineers who will not do justice to them’ during privatisations process.

“Fellows should rise and defend this noble profession. We should proffer solutions and offer practicable way out of the comatose power situation that has bedevilled this country.”

We will be a blessing to our country if we can achieve this.

“I want to congratulate all the new fellows and urge you not to see this as a mere decoration but a call to more commitment to the cause of engineering and the development of Nigeria as a country,” Engr Omisore 

The event also had in attendance the Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Suleiman Adamu FNSE, Chief of Staff to Dangote group and former presidential adviser; Engineer Joseph Makoju, Chairmen, Senate and House Committees on Power, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and Honourable Daniel Asuquo, Director General, Energy Commission of Nigeria; Professor Eli Jidere Bala, NSE President, Engineer Otis Anyaeji FNSE among other dignitaries.
