IMG 20170612 WA0019The Kaduna Refining and Petrochemicals Company (KRPC), is to continue patronizing Nigerian engineers on maintenance and consultancy jobs.

The Executive Director Services of the company, Abdullahi Idris, who represented the Managing Director, Idi Mukhtar when members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) paid a courtesy visit to the company yesterday, said this was in line with the local content drive of the federal government, adding that the socio-economic development of Nigeria was squarely in the hands of professionals.

He urged the NSE to live up to the challenges in the actualization of the Nigerian aspiration of improved local content and industrial development.

The Chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the NSE, Engr Abdulrasheed Babalola, said the society would continue to collaborate with the company to ensure improved production capacity and quality to reduce importation of petroleum products in the country.

The Nigerian Oil and Gas Development Law 2010 defines local content as “the quantum of composite value added to or created in Nigeria through utilization of Nigerian resources and services in the petroleum industry resulting in the development of indigenous capability without compromising quality, health, safety and environmental standards”. Hence, requires that Nigerians should be accorded “first consideration” in the award of Oil and Gas related contracts and services where the capabilities to execute such project exist in the country.

Engr Babalola  used the occasion to consoled the management of KRPC on the death of Engineer Kudu Ibn Ahmed who was a member of the NSE. Engr Ahmed died on Monday, May 29 after a protracted illness. The chairman prayed to Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest, and the family, management and staff of KRPC, the fortitude to bear the loss.
