Whatsapp will no longer be working on Blackberry Operating System from the end of 2016. The report comes in as the social messaging giant posted about it officially in a blog post. Whatsapp is one of the most used social messaging application and off late, they have been introducing quite a few interesting feature. After being taken over by Facebook, it seems that the social messaging application has taken a notch up, when it comes to the quality of its features.

Whatsapp set to cut support for BlackBerry OS, Android 2.1, 2.2 and Windows 7.1 devicesWhatsapp will be cutting down support for the versions of the Blackberry Operating system, even the latest version of the OS, which seems quite a handy one. At the time of their launch in the year 2009, smartphones were either Nokia or Blackberry devices and not it really feels bad to be cutting of the services. The developers have decided to cut off from the operating system, because the OS does not provide the features and the additions required for Whatsapp to bring in the features that they plan to do in Android and iOS based devices.

According to the Blog Post, “This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp. If you use one of these affected mobile devices, we recommend upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone before the end of 2016 to continue using WhatsApp.”

Whatsapp will still be available on Blackberry’s Android device Priv and the upcoming android device as well.
